Originally from the tropical island of Mauritius, FAYA, has shared her time between Toronto and Montreal since 2004.
Through elaborately engineered productions, she works with performance artists and those seeking something out of the ordinary, always pushing the limits in each hand-picked creation. Also known as the omg-how--what-are-we-going-to-do-this projects.
FAYA is a producer, photographer, location scouter, seamstress, prop maker, set designer and self-starter.
Such wasn't always the case. In the very beginning, her focus was on quantum physics and aerospace engineering. Life went on and the world was explored. Many things were learnt, but never enough. She ventured deep into the realm of Electroacoustics and Music Technology at Concordia University, Montreal.
With time, microphone placements evolved into camera angles. Music became light, and composition turned into framing. Sad days of selling the drum kit and guitar were exchanged for joyful trips to the camera store. The official transition to the visual world happened in 2011.
Her understanding of the music industry fuels her passion of photographing musicians and bands.
“Time is a created thing. To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to.”
― Lao Tzu
